Altitude Information

Sometimes called “mountain sickness,” altitude sickness can strike if you walk or climb to a higher elevation, or altitude, too quickly.

The different levels of altitude sickness have different symptoms: Symptoms of mild, short-term altitude sickness can include headache, dizziness, fatigue, shortness of breath, loss of appetite, sleep problems and a general loss of energy. Symptoms usually begin within 12 to 24 hours of arriving at a high altitude.

We are fully trained in high altitude trekking and can make arrangements to assist trekkers if these symptoms present. Alternatively, you may decide to seek medical advice prior to departure and bring altitude medication with you which will alleviate most of the symptoms and make your climbing more enjoyable. We can advise when the medication can be started and when it can be discontinued.
